Having attended boarding school in the States for the past 6 years, I have gained valuable experiences in diverse communities outside South Korea. Upon graduating high school, I decided to take a gap year to address family matters. During this time, I am not only cherishing time with my loved ones but also gaining hands-on, professional experience as an intern at a cosmetic company as well as working a part-time job to support my family's needs.
While my resume might paint me as a STEM enthusiast, I am much more than that. I am enthusiastic and passionate for physical activities like weight lifting, fishing, grappling, and rock climbing, and I plan to continue these pursuits long past my university life and for as long as my body allows. Off the field, I enjoy watching thought-provoking movies with friends and family, followed by engaging discussions. Some of my favorite films include The Godfather, La La Land, and The Truman Show.
I am both a city and nature enthusiast. In urban environments, I see it as my mission to discover "a spot"—be it a park, restaurant, or café—that I will revisit one day. While I enjoy the energy of bustling cityscapes and skyscrapers, I find solace in nature and its soothing atmosphere. Whether it's going on nature walks, gazing into bonfires, kayaking with my best friend, or grilling steaks, these moments in nature are an essential for me.
Traveling is another passion of mine, and it has shaped my ultimate life goal. During my trips to Guatemala, I confronted the harsh reality of health inequality, which inspired me to pursue a career in chemistry. It was heartbreaking to witness how people in Guatemala struggled to afford even the most basic necessities. I am determined to use my knowledge to help improve people's quality of life.
